DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the BPT Course is four and half years including internship of six months.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and for the examinations of the BPT Course is ENGLISH.

ATTENDANCE

A candidate is required to attend at least 80 percent of the total classes conducted in a year in all subject prescribed for that year, separately, in theory and practical / clinical to become eligible to appear for the university examination in the first attempt.

EXAMINATIONS

Internal examinations will be conducted by the college at regular intervals. A Candidate must obtain a 50% mark in theory and practical separately in internal assessment to be eligible to write the university examination.

First, Second, Third and Final examinations will be held at the end of 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year respectively. The examination for main subjects will be conducted by the University and subsidiary subjects by the college. For a pass in main subjects, a candidate must secure 50% of the total marks in theory and practical separately. For a pass in subsidiary subjects, a candidate must score 35% of the total marks prescribed for the subject.

A candidate, who has failed in the final exam of a year, is permitted to carry any two of the five main subjects to the next year. However, they should pass in the failed subjects before appearing for the final examination of that year.

A Subsidiary subject may be carried over, but the candidate should pass the same before appearing for the final year examination.

Internship

Every candidate should undergo six months (26 weeks) of Internship after the final year examinations. Internship should be done in a teaching hospital recognised by the University limited to within Karnataka only.

The Internship should be rotatory and cover clinical branches concerned with Physiotherapy such as Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic including ICU, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology - both inpatient and outpatient services.

No candidate shall be awarded degree certificate without successfully completing six months of Internship.

The 6 months of rotational posting must be covered in the following pattern.

  • Physiotherapy OPD (Including Paediatrics and OBG wards) 1 Month
  • Orthopedic wards 1 Month
  • General Medicine wards (Including MICU and CCU) 1 Month
  • General Surgery wards (Including CST wards, CTS-ICU and Burns) 1 Month
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery wards (Including Neuro ICU) 1 Month
  • Community Posting – PHC 1 Month

Eligibility

  • Pass in two year Pre - University / 10+2 examination conducted by recognized University/Board, with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.
  • Pass individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in the qualifying examination with 40% marks (35% for SC/ST/OBC Karnataka Students) in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Management Quota - 32 (Direct admission through college selection committee)

Eligibility Documents

The following documents have to be provided by the student during admission.

  • S.S.L.C. Marks Card (Original and two photocopies)
  • PUC / Plus Two Marks Card (Original and two photocopies)
  • Transfer Certificate (Original and two photocopies)
  • Conduct Certificate (Original and two photocopies)
  • Migration Certificate (Original and two photocopies, only for Non-Karnataka candidates)
  • Passport size photos (5 numbers)
  • Adhar Card (photocopy)

Please note the original documents will be retained by the college for the RGUHS admission approval process.

All the students who have passed the qualifying examination other than the PUC Examination conducted by the Pre University Examination Board of Karnataka shall obtain Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

If PUC/ Plus Two original marks are not yet issued by the Board/ School at this stage, provisional marks card can be submitted. However, to confirm the admission, the original marks card must be submitted before the last date of admission prescribed by the University.

Fees Payment

The students are expected to pay the admission fees and tuition fees before the commencement of the class. Fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Admission Order

On submitting the duly filled forms, documents and fees receipt, the candidate will receive a provisional admission order. Please note that the admission will be subject to the final approval by the University.

Admission will be confirmed and the admission order will be issued by the college after the eligibility certificate is issued by the university.
